My F 16 cockpit
I have been building the F16 cockpit for about 2 years. I fly FS9 and FSX and prefer small and fast aircraft. It is a lowcost project, it was not my intension to build an exact copy. I have 3 gauges so fare. See my video and homesite for more information. Lovely to build, and lovely to fly!

Hi
I am glad you like the cockpit and the video. It is a wonderful hobby! I have no pilot experience myself, but when i enter the tight cockpit, put on the gloves and helmet, taxi out and give full throttel.....

Re: My F 16 cockpit
Hobby, How did you get the HUD to work? Is the HUD framework just aligned with the monitor so the HUD image sows through the HUD frame? Or, are you projecting onto the HUD glass?

Re: My F 16 cockpit
The HUD is a addon running on the monitor. In front I have placed a HUD made of plywood and plexiglass. It works very nice.

Re: My F 16 cockpit
Interesting! Is the HUD display a 2D window of a HUD or a separate program. If separate, is this a FSX program or something else?

Re: My F 16 cockpit
You find the program here http://www.fsimzone.com/new/download-search-.html Search for fgpanel. It is for FS9, but works fine in FSX.
Then find the aircraftfolder in your computer. Backup the panelfolder, and make a new called panel. Place the HUD program here after unzipping. Start up flightsimulator, choose your aircraft, press w-key, and there you go. Ask some computer folks if you are not familiar with finding the aircraft-folder.

Re: My F 16 cockpit
Awesome Video and Cockpit. The F-16 isn't that replete with instruments mostly MFD's (IM) so you would only need a few. I love the story too. It kind of brings up another thought..
We should have a video awards for FS videos. It's so popular these days as well as really being the start to all other software videos (minus the cinematic's out there). The replay feature in many pieces of software had it's birth in FS.
There could be separate category's for the selections not based on aircraft model so much but the completeness of the video presentation.
- Story
- Editing (different camera angle selection and transition)
- SFX (in this case including 'stage' by that I mean the home cockpit)
- Sound - Score (music) ATC (pilot communication) Narration (if any)
Not to detract from all contributions as they are all worth watching and us FS fans out there are pretty good at the technical stuff. This could become a really good resource for those wanting to build a cockpit as well as a great source of inspiration as was demonstrated in this case..
On a more personal note check your PM's hobbypilot I sent you something...
Great Vid... Keep them coming if you can spare the time from flying ...Up Up and away in my beautiful my beautiful - Amphibian
