I have a real problem with my sim around the TOGA issue. The engines just don't spool up........

Ignoring all my expensive gear and using only the 737 default FSX plane, the engines do not spool up on N1. They do on "Speed". Once spooled if I select N1 the engines cut 50%. Any thoughts on what could be going on?
