encoder feel
I use this ordinary type of concentric.(see pic) for my Avionics.
Has anyone found some more " stronger feel " type, where the clicks click and harder to turn...well, put it that way: more "aviation"
Cheers

Why do you think that one does not feel real? I fly fairly often and the one you are using has more 'click' to it that the real radios I use.

Fly often too and I can tell you that an AIRLINER radio knob, even on a digital set , feels much different!!!
Try a soft click encoder in turbulence and see how many tries it takes to set the right frequency..
( I know we do not have turbulence in the sim lol)
Anyway looking for something more sturdy?Jackpilot

I would imageine that commercial aviation rated electronics components can be found.......... and you can get a good mortgage rate on them if you look atound at a number of banks.

I know John
Got a lot of a 100 rotaries, encoders, switches from Janco on EBay all aviation grade, but they are all different, (luckily there were two boeing start switches, reason for my bid)
Pretty sure some "civil" encoders have more guts than other...was just enquiring...lol

Years ago i used to make my own dual concentric encoders from regular rotary switches like the one on the picture below. I dont know however if your interface cards accept rotary switches as simulated encoders (opencockpits do).
very strong click. you could make the click less strong by cutting the spring inside.
on a side note. I have been in 737's with radios with a very weak click, and others with a very strong click, so i guess it all just depends on the model of radios being used...
