MIP Measurements

Hey Guys I have been looking for the MIP Measurements for the last three days in this forum and any web site that was suggested. I tried the download library and down loaded the MIP CAD and then I downloaded a program called CAD viewer and I cant get the measurements to work out. I am attempting to build everything from scratch this includes all the cut outs for the monitors, gauges etc. Thanks to anyone that can direct me to the write place.

Also while we are on the subject of plans, anyone know where i can get a full mcp drawing for the Cessna 182 cockpit (not just the pilot side, both!)

Anyone know? (Make sure Deron gets his plans first though!)

Let me guess what deron wants to build? 9/10 its the 737! haha!

Alex,

2 things.
First you keep posting MCP (Mode Control Panel = Autopilot) when you ask about the MIP (Main Instrument Panel). Not a problem, just thought I'd mention it to you as it can cause some confusion.

Second, If you want to make a realistic Cessna MIP, then design your own from a picture within the framework of what room you have. This is the easiest way and still gives you a very realistic sim.

Since you are building a 182 check this one out. Its a 182T. If this does not meet your needs, try Airliners.net

Yeah i have done loads of drawings and designs but want to keep it as close to the real spec as possible with room for modifications!

Will look at some other simmers cockpits for ideas but i mainly have my own!

For ANY MIP there is no one exact layout. Each aircraft owner has the panel customized for their particular needs. You will see that most things are in the same place, but not always. Cessna, Boeing, Airbus and others have a 'standard' layout but after that, anything goes.

So feel free to create your own layout.

There wasn't anything too 'standard' on the 727. There's about as many panel configurations as there were airlines flying it.

And i suppose thats what makes a cockpit so unique, that no 2 home made cockpits are ever the same, nether the less no 2 real cockpits are ever the same i guess as even in real life flying everyone wether it be pilots or airlines will always mod or custom their cockpit to requirements!

As for Deron, the 737 is the obvious choice of sim as it is the probably (in my eyes) the best and greatest airliner of all time and thousands know that too!, thats why everyone wants a 737ng in their home now!

But i know that half the people that get all excited by the thought of a 737 sim in their home set unrealistic goals and dont realise how much work, skill and money you need to build a 737 sim, its not just a 6'x4' sheet of plywood cut into an MIP shape with 4 screens behind it, its all the detail, electronics, panels, systems, switches, buttons, software, interfaces that goes into it, and you have to know what everything does, what every switch and button does, whats its used for, how it works, why it works, how to replicate it, how to control it, how to link it to fs and make it do something etc, etc, and some people just dont realise whats cut out for them long term with a project like this!

By all means i wish you the best of luck and im sure you will do it, i want you to do it, i want everyone to do it, but i hear so many people start projects such as the 737 that fail half way through because of unrealistic goals, sloppy planning, run-out of money, didnt have plan 'B' etc etc,

so how i guessed that u were building the 737? was....the chances are its a 737 because sooo many people are builing them!
