Airbus committed to supporting Red Cross humanitarian aid for tsunami victims

Airbus will contribute to the emergency relief provided by the Red Cross in the regions affected by the earthquake and tsunami which occurred on December 26th.

“On behalf of all the Airbus employees, I would like to express our sincere condolences to all those who have been touched by these devastating events. Our thoughts go out to the families and friends of those who were affected,” said Noël Forgeard, CEO and President of Airbus. “We want to contribute to the aid operation as well as provide relief in these tragic circumstances.”

Airbus will contribute at least one million Euros to the Red Cross, and puts into place a series of initiatives in order to facilitate the Red Cross’ daily work in the field. In this context, Airbus is putting one of its A300-600 Super Transporters, nicknamed “Beluga”, at the disposal of the Red Cross. This aircraft will allow to transport to the regions affected by the disaster the necessary emergency material, as well as exceptionally bulky equipment such as helicopters and water purification devices.

“Asia is an extremely dynamic region and we are confident of its ability to rebound and continue as one of the most attractive tourist and business regions of the world. Airbus will do its utmost to contribute to this in any way possible.” Mr. Forgeard added.
