When I was looking for a new videocard for FSX I came across this website which is a great help. You can select two cards and a benchmark. FSX is included in the benchmark offsets and you can select different resolutions.

Well it seems that there is only a marginal difference in performance (in fps) between the Nvidia 8800 GTX and the GTS. With marginal think of no more than 0,2 pfs. Three times the GTS wins (!), two times the GTX.
I wonder if the price difference (GTS about 350 Euros and the GTX around 550) justifies choosing the GTX.
But maybe there are other considerations. Does anyone have experience on this?

Hi Everyone
The new ATI 3870X2 is claimed to be faster than the Nvida 8800 GTX and my experience with FSX bears this fact with my particular setup.
The dual card Nvida is not getting such good reviews at the moment although I think there will be a step change in graphics card performance coming later this year.

Well if a Geforce 8600 is almost as fast as a 9800 in FSX, it really does show just how much FSX is really CPU dependent and not as much on the video card...
Wait for the newer 45nm Quadcore intel chips to come out, FSX should kick it up a notch. If you ask me, Microsoft teamed up with Intel to purposely make Vista and FSX slow so people would buy new cpu's.
Another reason I am using X-plane 9.
