Explanations welcomed

Hi,

could someone please point me to the explanations of the sysvar.txt?

I noticed a lot of ambiguouity in the description of the various offsets used in pmsystems as there are for example:

What is the difference between Offsets 04FE.2 (pm Caution), 56F3.0 (Caution) and 56F7.0 (Master caution)??

Which offset should I use for the Glareshield Buttons / Lights "Master Caution" and "Master Warning"?
Which is the appropriate offset for "Recall" (recall of cancelled warnings) and is there a cancel button for the sixpacks?
What does the "Master Light Test" (560D.0) test? Is it a general lamps test button?

As you can see a lot of questions and these here are only a few examples.

Where do you guys get all the info from. I couldn´t find any in the docs for pm.

Any help highly appreciated.

Peter,

Best bet for figuring appropriate offset is to
place pmSystems in Dev mode.
(press ESC and follow menu options).

While in dev mode and hovering mouse over
an item, such as "Master Caution",
both the offset and the current value for the offset,
will be displayed.

Of course, this only works if offset is resprented by a graphic on the pmSystems screen.

But there are varous Offsets not represented, look at Sysvar.txt.

A comment near varous offsets will be WELCOMED!

I am in the process of building my OHP, and I guess I will have exactly the same questions.
I am especially interested in how to get the master caution and recall functions to work.

Hi Hans,

the answer is quite simple as the sixpacks and the recall and master warning / caution switchers are already included in Thomas`B747 overhead. Just move the panel a bit up and you can see the sixpacks and the switches. The offsets you can display in dev. mode.

Does Thomas also have a 373 overhead containing the sixpacks?

Hi Hans. Thomas's file is a 737! Man you relay need to use it! There is nothing like it.

Hi Hans,

yes, the sixpacks are included in Thomas´737 overhead panel. In order to find them you have to move (use the arrow keys on the key board) the panel upwards to get the sixpacks displayed. They are placed left below the overhead. Similar to the Cutoff levers and the master caution, warning and recall buttons.

thanks! I checked the latest build on the pm website (99b) and the sixpacks are there! I mean, in the stock, unmodified and original pm-systems version.

I talked to Thomas Richter about modified files and he strongly advises against using modified files floating around in the community. Since pm is striving to make pm-systems look more and more like the real thing with each new release, there is less and less need for modifications.

He said that the modified files - when combined with newer builds - will eventually lead to offset conflicts, might cause slow behavior of pm-systems or in a worst case, crashes.

Bottom line: I will stick to the unmodified files made by pm. My cockpit is complicated as it is; I do not want to include anything that holds the potential for unnecessary headaches...

Well Hans, I think this is one of the reasons PM brought Thomas on board. Most of us where using his file so PM just made his file the "stock" one. Now he keeps it modified to keep up with the changes they are making in PM.
