Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
I purchased a motorized Platinium TQ for my home built 737-800ng cockpit. The TQ arrived well packed and undamaged. I had a few minor problems with the config for the TQ and also with using SIOC. I skyped Oral and after two conversations and an hour to 45 minutes later (using Teamview) my TQ was working perfectly. I was very pleased with the level of customer service and technical expertise that I received. Eren did a good job too in terms of keeping update on the status of my TQ as it was being built. The TQ is a nice quality addition to my simulator. I will definitely be looking to purchase other products from Revolution-Simproducts.

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Thanks Nat737ng,
Its great to see some balance to the comments of their products. All to often we only get to hear the negative side
of life.
Hope you enjoy your TQ for many years.

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
What I don't understand is why so many people are having so much trouble to the point of having to Skype Oral to get the product to work. Seems like someone would post what steps were necessary to get it to work. Are there no instructions? Are they unclear? Why is it so difficult?
Can you tell us what Oral did to get it to work?
I have one ordered almost 6 months ago and I hope it will be coming soon.

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
I have no connection with Revolution sim products and do not own any of their products. No two sims are the same particularly in terms of software in use on the customers machines. All eventualities cannot be anticipated, for example, it may be necessary to amend the SIOC script to allow for other Opencockpits hardware that may be in use.
I once read the REV Sim Throttle Manual documentation and found it clear and informative. What is also clear from being a forum member for many years is that people do not properly read the documentation attached to either software/hardware - Nat737ng I am not including you in this :)
This forum regularly has admissions of
I forgot to connect power
I put the chips in the wrong way round
I connected the power the wrong way round
What is sioc.ini
Where is the manual
Oh, did not see that in the manual
Multiple examples of not following the manual
By bringing a sophisticated piece of hardware/software to the hobbyist market Rev Sim leave themselves open to criticisms because it is impossible to make such a unit universally plug and play. Perhaps that could be made clearer, however, we are sometimes our own worst enemy :)

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Hello and good evening,
I also bought a TQ Gold Edition motorized V 2.1. for my cockpit. It was delivered at the end of November. When I unpacked it I was really impressed. It seemed to me like a real one in very good condition. To be honest I also had some problems mainly with SIOC because I also use some other OC Modules and for each a separate script instead of using one sioc file for more then one. So some strange behavior occured and I didn't manage reversers to work.
Several times I posted in Prosim forum to get a solution for my problems. Most of answers were: why don't you contact Oral Barkey? And then I did so and was very impressed about the hole support I got.
In summery nearly 2 hours of convesation by skype and teamview and problems were solved.
Most of time Oral spended to place arrangement in my mixed up files. Now I start 5 scripts with one siox.exe and I learnt some more how to set up multiple modules with one script.
Especially his patient with me (I don't hear so very good) is highly mentioning.
I was very pleased about his high level of support and technical expertise too.
Regards
Wolfgang

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Hi guys!
Just got my toy and have a little question. There's nothing in manual about power supply pinout - wich one should be center - positive or negative?
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
I don't know for sure about RSP but it's been years since any dc power supply plugs were anything but positive center pin.

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Hi,
I have conected 12V 4A DC (2.5A required, so it would be enogh for device). Backlit works as I switch it on manually. But the throttle does not move at all.
It's mentioned in manual, that some other 220V power supply required, but there's only one power inlet on the device available :( And motors does not work. Maybe some one can share own expirience on how to setup it?
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
The 220v power supply is only needed to plug in the 12volt adapter.
Have you followed the manual and installed sioc and the script etc?
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Sure! It looks like it has not enogh power from supply I have used. Probably, shoud I try ATX power supply?
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Sounds unlikely that a 4 amp 12 volt supply is inadequate, unless it is faulty. Suggest that you go over the manual again and check each step. If still no joy then contact Revolution

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
I've connected ATC 300W power supply. For sure, it must be enogh for the device. But I see just very small movements of the trim wheel. And nothing else. Throttle, spoiler and flap axes also do not work :(

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Has a device number appeared in your sioc window?
If so, have you changed your sioc.ini file to insert that number?
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Yes, it does, and yes, I've done
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Ok, please forgive me for asking but it is surprising how many times people do not amend the sioc.ini file when working with sioc.
If you go into IOCPConsole do you see any variables changing value when you move the throttles, flaps or speedbrake?
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
No, none of them :( It was a moment, when thorttles controlled airplane levers in default fsx plane. But now there's nothing. Probably, it's faulty DCMotors card?
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
So, whatever you move on the throttle - lever or button there is no reaction from any of the variables in IOCPConsole or movement in the log window. That suggests that sioc is not set up properly or the unit is faulty
Could you post your sioc.ini file and include a screen snap shot of your sioc window. Also it would be helpful if you could include advice on how many pc`s and where the software is located and what flight model you are using. I assume that you are also running a registered copy of FSUIPC

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Thank you, fordgt40, for taking time to help me.
I have attached both sioc.ini and sioc screen. I have disconnected all other io devices (master card, outs, mcp, etc) and using now sioc only with tq. Everything is on sigle pc same as fsx or fs9, for test purposes. Currently sim is FSX (very default model) and addon is PROSIM:737.
FSUIPC is licensed on both FSX and FS9.
There's also brand new sioc installation and I've just modified few lines in sioc.ini.
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
And the small update: pressing TOGA on prosim (or on TQ unit - buttons are on other joystick card) gives rapid changes to variables in IOCP Console. But tq does not react at all.

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Hi
Sadly I see nothing wrong with your sioc.ini file :( The sioc window does not show "file compiled", but that may just be timing
Although the throttle is supposed to be factory setup, have you tried the HID Interface section for calibrating the axes? if so, does the software recognise the lever movement?
Just one last thing, as you have removed all other OC cards, just try bracketting out any remaining master card definitions in sioc.ini and you may then need to change the IDX number back to zero.
Sorry, but I am out of options now - you will need to contact support at Revolution, unless anyone else on the forum has some suggestions
Good luck
David

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Thank you again for response. I will wait for reply from RSP.

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Connected to laptop and checked with sioc monitor. Device works great, all axes are readable. I'm fully confused :( Probably, there's some win 7 known problem or secururity tick or anything else I should apply to get it worked same way on PC?
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Great, determination pays :p
Well done - you must be pleased

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Yes, indeed! But anyway, there's some problem. I have connected it to third PC and device "crashes" time to time. It blinks in SIOC device list and monitor closes. May be, the problem in SIOC version? Windows does not remove device and does not show any warnings.

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
This sounds like a usb problem/power problem. Is your throttle connected via a powered hub? - it should be.
Try running your throttle with the minimum of other usb devices connected. Also try connecting it into the main pc usb connection, not through a hub.
This should help you isolate the problem.

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Thanks, I presumed it's USB problem and tried all options mentioned. No success :( The best result I had is with the laptop USB.
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Is the throttle always recognised as a USB device on all computers. If not, then have you tried going into Control Panel and removing all USB devices and letting the pc rebuild the drivers. If this fails are you sure that your AT PC power sully can provide enough amps? Generally their 5 volt supply is ample, but 12 volt can be a bit low sometimes. Perhaps try the power adapter again?

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Thank you, David, for your advises. I have solved this issue. Sent you details in PM :)
-
Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
Can you please post your solution here so that the rest of us may learn from your experience.

Re: Revolution Simproducts Motorized Platinium TQ
In just few words it was power issue finally. I'm not sure about the reason (as I did not use original DC power as it was not included in parcel with TQ), but I will give some explanation here later, after consulting RSP.
