I have a related question.
Is there a difference between stereo and mono pots as it relates to sim building? I've been able to find 100k pots but they are in stereo. Should I be looking for a particular type of pot? As I look at the Mouser catalog page it seems the above pot is used for mixing as well as other audio apps. Is that the case for all slide pots or just the principal use for them?

Thanks for the info on mouser. Unfortunately that is only a 45 mm slide. I am using these for cessna- type throttle/mixture/prop and need at least 3-3/8" of travel so anything less than 100 mm will be too short.
Stereo pots are 2 pots in one house. That's all. You should look for lineair pots, most pots used in audio will be logaritmic.

Mouser also sells a linear 100mm pot. i will try to find a part number. I just ordered and interfaced them into my cessna (210) TPM controls. The Prop and mixture each would have worked with an 80mm pot, but the throttle required 93mm of travel. Will try to get you the Mouser part later today...
The Mouser Part Number has a 652 in front of the Bourn part number, therefore,
652-PTF01-152A-103B2 for a 100 mm pot. I used one on my throttle. And yes these are stereo pots which menas that there are two pot circuits in one case. I hooked up one side to my Opencockpits board and it works just fine.

That is all! They are six lugs marked 1, 2 and 3. Use one of each on the same side of the slider and you are golden! #2 is the wiper, btw.

I have uploaded a picture of the connection between a Bourns 100mm linear pot and a push-pull throttle on my pit in the Genereal aviation section. I made a metal bracket to mount the pot with a slot for the slide to move in. I machined a small aluminum connector to join the throttle shaft and the pot slide. I had to drill a small hole in the pot slide (1/16" I think). It works well. I need to ensure that there are physical stops on the throttle shaft instead of allowing the pot to just bottom out.

The pot subject is baking my noodle at the moment. On the lookout for 80mm slide pot so would be intereted to hear about any success in that department.

Won't hurt if you have to go a little long. I used 100mm pots (Bourn PTF01-152A-104B2). They provide a little extra travel, but calibrating them via fs or fsuipc renders that a non-issue. The only one who will know is you... ;)

It's good idea to check the datasheet if available - a lot of cheap pots are rated for 10K movements or less and designed to be used in things like tone control that you adjust once in a blue moon. In any case try mounting it with a slot facing downwards to stop dust falling through.

Penny + Giles is top stuff used in mix desks but they are most definitely log taper (audio.)
