Generic Multi engine GA simpit from Sweden
Hello, just wanted to join and present my first attemt at a simpit. In lack of a pilotjob I desided to build a simple IFR trainingdevice for selfpractise.
I intend to network 3 computers so I can have a instructorstation on one and the two others for instruments and a large view forward.
Tha platform will be FS2004 because I find it to deliver satisfying graphics with mid range computers. The instruments are presented on two 22" LCD screens and there will be a cover with round holes for the instruments.
The controls are somewhat modified Saitek off the shelf gear.
The simpit is built of MDF. The nice seats are from a BMW 535, very confortable.
Best regards
Johannes

Here comes a little update. I have coverd the sim with plastic sheets. The floor has also got a nice black carpet. The seats are fitted and bolted down.
I am now waiting for a usb rotary encoder so I can finish the panel.

nubee here, how do you cut the sheet metal and how did you make the leather looking edge above the screens? It looks really nice!

Re: Generic Multi engine GA simpit from Sweden
Hello.
The metal sheet is milled. Altough you can use a metal saw aswell but it takes longer time.
The glareshield is made of 8 pieces of mdf that I glued together in to a solid block. Then I cut it to shape with a saw and sanded it to shape. That took forever and is by far the most timeconsuming part on this project.
Then I covered it with vinyl using contactglue and a heatgun to make the curved edges.

Your pit is very impressive!! I love the details!!
Re: Generic Multi engine GA simpit from Sweden
I love everything about this pit. Especially the seats. I know you didn't build those but they are looking great. The MIP is pretty awesome as well. The metal work is really impressive too - forward cowling.
Keep up the great work and hoping for some more updates..
Re: Generic Multi engine GA simpit from Sweden
Absolutely amazing work, I am looking to achieve something similar and am stunned by how good that looks...well done pal. :D
One issue I am facing for my own pit is how best to inset the monitors to have them flat against the panel as you have there. How have you mounted them?

Here is a little update. The panel has now got a matt gray finish and I have installed the switches for aircraft systems. The black plates that are describing the various switches are made in MS word and laminated with plastic.
I will post them aswell. Just print and use. :-) The switches are standard 30x11 mm.
