Would you be able to export those Sketchup drawings as a DXF file? I'd love to feed that design to my ShopBot - it would be a fun project.
g.
That would be great Ricardo, thanks! I've found a plugin that will export to DXF that works in the free version, so I can give that a shot and see how well AutoCAD handles the result.
My email address is geneb@deltasoft.com
If I can get a good set of DXF files, I'll email them to you.
Thanks again!

Hello guys,
Here is update #10

http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/2203/dsc6435f.jpg
Wow! Very nice and clean looking.
Attached are DXF files for the 23 numbered components that make up the shell framework.
Files marked "a" and "b" were beveled on the ends so I exported the front and back faces in order to expose this detail. You can use this to figure out the correct bevel for those parts.
You can open these files in DoubleCAD (free edition) and they can be printed on standard paper using a program called "tileprint".
The files were exported in Imperial units from their original Metric.
Many thanks to Ricardo for allowing me to do this!
I'll get the components for the base, center console, MIP and overhead done later this week.
g.
Very, very impressive work!
I agree. He's done a fantastic job with the model. It's sized just right for folks that have limited space, but want to build a nice dual control cockpit.
I think the best feature is the fact that he designed the instrument panel for three 17" panels. There are _many_ 17" flat panels on eBay right now, many of which are under $50 each. If you decide to build this cockpit, you'll do yourself a service by trying to get three of the same make and model of panel. :)
g.
Pulling some of the parts out of SketchUp is becoming problematic.
The shell components came out ok, but the center console and instrument panel is getting pretty ugly. How many people out there really want a set of DXF files? Is there anyone waiting on the work I'm doing?

Side windows taking shape and adding some details that make all the diference, at least to me.

Awesome! It just keeps getting better and better.
Looking good.. Almost makes me want to swap out the prop for some turbines..
Great work
Hey Ricardo,
That is excelent work man !!!!!
:D
I finished a new export set of the numbered parts here: http://www.diy-cockpits.org/files/sh...ts_10Oct10.zip
These differ from the other set in that they're saved as an earlier DXF format version and I've made notes on the ones that require any bevel cuts.
I'm still tweaking the model for the center console - http://www.diy-cockpits.org/images/c...nsole_test.png
Ricardo, can you tell me the make & model of the 17" and 15" displays you're using as well as their "raw" (un-cased) dimensions?
I've got the top & bottom rails as well as the stiles for the instrument panel frame done, but I'd like to make sure things fit before I finish those.
Should I start a separate thread for this to keep from cluttering your project updates?
tnx.

Hello,
Had a little problem on my left eye and been offline for a bit, i am using 2x 17" LG Flatron L1734S not stripped of plastic frame for left and right, and 1x old 17" lg lcd that i stripped but do not know the model. All are 4:3 lcd's.
The monitor frame is made to order in my case, it has to be diferent for other hardware.
Thanks for the info - I hope your eye gets better soon!

Great job! I 'm building a 737ng. Should I purchase a SISMO - FWD OVERHEAD PLATINUM LINE (FULL WIRED) or COCKPITSONIC - B737 OVERHEAD PANEL?
Sorry, Rich. I am new here.
Ricardo that's a marvelous job. You did again ;)

Update #14
The pair waiting foam from a friends mattress company
http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/5697/dsc6513.jpg
Are there springs in your seats (as part of the frame)? If not you may want to add some in. Foam is good for a while but not long term. That is your butte will feel it after about an hour or so. This feeling will get worse the more you use the foam only seat as the foam gets more and more 'used' You could maybe find springs out of a couch or recliner.
Great seat design though.
Is it for boeing 737?
Wow Ricardo, you have make very nice work with your seats, looks great.
I will start with seats after i finish my shell.
Very nice!
Interesting project you have!! looking forward to see more pics!
