Thanks to both of you and anyone else who tries to offer a hand. Its really hard to not get frustrated when you are told that this can be done, yet not told how to in the software. Sorry-venting. Regardless, I am using a simple SPST momentary pushbutton- on one ever mentioned a SPDT momentary till now. I continued on last night after my last post and went thru hoops, stood on my head, you get the picture.
What is a NO type switch vs. NC?

You'll also see this refrerenced as NO = "make" on activation and a NC as "break" on activation.
