What is really needed here is 'Glassiagra'. That should revitalize those old cells and let you appreciate younger stuff :p

I learned on them too and I find them more comforting to monitor.
In fact, it's no different navigating a 727 than it is a 172.
Looking at it from a real life stand point, you can see why they go glass instead of all steam. Just look at the 747 or example:

and if you still like a Steam gauge cockpit, why not the DC-6

As you can see glass is cleaner, requires less people to manage, and easier to maintain. When a gauge spikes on a glass cockpit there is no searching for the indicator light or tapping on the gauge because you think it is stuck. However, steam looks really cool and complex (because it is).
Tap on that awhile...it's probably just stuck. :D
