On a serious note, the RAF do this same procedure. And that's so as someone said the hand oils/sweat doesn't make your hands less effective on the controls. But i can understand in a fighter jet - i wouldn't see the need in a commercial airliner unless it is as you say to stop the cockpit's getting dirty, or some moral cultural thing.
I have to admit I fly with one glove on, after 4 hours the old palms do get sweaty so I cant blame these guys for doing the same lol, excellent video it really shows the efficency and professionalism of the two pilots and how they work well together.
