Looking great Louie! Are these injection molded? How do you prototype the parts?
Cody
Hey Cody,
The parts shown in the pics are not injection molded.
If the real parts are small enough I usually use a 3d scanner then either 3d print/cnc cut or if it's just 2d I use laser cutter or waterjet.
I just fab this A/S gauge knob. I couldn't find an actual knob with a collar wide enough to fit on a CTS encoder shaft. So the best thing to do is make one.

As you can see the back frame needs one minor adjustment for the ident switch.

WOW! LOOK AT ALL OF THOSE KNOBS!

Problem solved! I was a bit frustrated with Alps Dual Encoder and I should have listened to my buddy about the issue with this encoder. Well my stubbornness lead me to this, dual concentric CTS encoder. Now I don't have to worry about the digits doing "Up Jumps the Boogie" while I turn the knobs or having to use different encoders with a separate card. http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...c/DSCN4564.jpg

Hi Louie,
I like the Cts288 dual rotary, you should be able to sell a few of these. The only other one
is the Elma sold by Leo Bodnar good but expensive. Be very interested what your will sell for.
Keep up the great work, you are a god send for GA builders.
Were These a CTS288 without switch or did you remove it.
Les
As always, looking good Louie.
I think mycockpits is the most unresponsive forum I've ever been a member of. Over 13,000 views and 125 replies? That's a shame.
I just uploaded the sailfish firmware onto my makerbot, I'm going to start a run of gauge bezels protos when I get a free minute. First up are some pot gears for my force feedback yoke. To many open projects, not enough time!
I'll probably make a few of this dual encoders, maybe less than 50. My original plan was to make them exclusively for the KX155 nav/com kit.
I just tested the dual encoder and the performance is excellent.
Yes I know...how come the nav channel is in the com window =P. I was just doing a quick test.

Nice! that thing comes in handy. What bed size does it have?
This encoder fits just fine with KY-197, KN-64 and KR-87.

Hey Louie
Approx 5" square. Sometimes I wish I would've waited until the dual extruder printers with larger platforms started coming out, but so far my little makerbot has fit the bill. What type of printer do you have? Or do you contract out your machine work?
