Re: A Boeing 737NG cockpit build
Here's some pics from this weekend. I love the FLG meetings. You really don't meet flightsimmers too often.

I felt pride just looking at it.. It looks outstanding sitting there:)

Carrying it in the small doors was a hassle, but worked out fine.

Putting it back together works like a charm every time. Cant believe it:)

Re: A Boeing 737NG cockpit build
Can I just show you guys something?
This post is not an update on the project. This is just the first time I have seen any hardware inside the cockpit. I went over to the garage to clean up a little of the old mess from the last time I worked on the sim. So I decided to try to just put the MIP inside the cockpit for the heck of it since it was just standing there. And dude.... I could sit there and dream for hours..
This is by far how it's going to look when it's done, but it gives me a little motivation boost to see my dream slowly coming true..
The MIP stand needs to be rebuilt to fit inside the shell and so on...

Just remember the exact location where you took that last shot so you can take more from the same place with the same angle for when you want to create a nice time-lapse animation 5 years later.

From 'Norwegian wood' (Beatles) to 'Daydream believer' (Monkees); that's nice. :)

Looks great. Now that your cockpit parts have a home. It's time to move in :)
Cheers

Re: A Boeing 737NG cockpit build
Haha... Yes you are right.. Time to move in..
I might start tomorrow with the MIP stand construction. I just need to pick up a few MDF plates.
This whole afternoon went into cleaning out the garage to get rid of all the old pieces of cut-aways and other mess. So now it's all set to start the next fase. I just need to figure out how to construct that MIP the best possible way.
I'm thinking that the slightest imperfection will transplant into other imperfections at this stage.. I just want to get it right. So the MIP has to be 100% correct. It's gona be to late to change it later, as everything else will be constructed around it.
But.... It'll be fun as always:)
Re: A Boeing 737NG cockpit build
Congrats on your project !!!
Nice going there. The truth is that when all gear is placed inside the shell, the feeling is a lot different.
Keep up posting,
Nick
Re: A Boeing 737NG cockpit build
I found that my old MIP from FlightDeck Solutions was not 100% true to size. So I spent some time figuring out how to solve this. I finally figured that having gone through all this hassle of building a full cockpit shell, it would be stupid of me to mount a non-scale MIP in there.
So I sold the old MIP, with the CP-Flight MCP and EFIS panels (which also were not 100% scale.. New ones are ordered.
I then ordered the SimWorld MIP, and I have to say I dont regret it at all..
Here's a video of the first package I received yesterday.

And here's the second one with the unwrapping of the MIP and aft overhead.
