A320 FCU Push Pull controls

Hi Guys,
Are these push pull controls just a SPDT switch or do they return to center(off)?

It's a neutral center position switch, it doesn't "stick" in the push or pull direction.

Also has anybody come up with a switch/encoder for the DIY builders? I have seen home built switches but these
are rather bulky.

Even the original one is quite bulky! You either buy a ready made push/pull encoder for quite a few $$$ each or you make a cheap DIY. If you can think of a better design feel free to share!
