Re: SETTING UP THE OVERHEAD
Hagstrom boards are the equivalent us using FSBUS. They're old school. But don't get me wrong, as the saying goes there's more than one way to skin a cat.
When using a bodnar board for example you would expect to be using an avionics suite (prosim is popular) with which you can assign these functions to things within FS.
Re: SETTING UP THE OVERHEAD
Do yourself a big favour and get an input/output board designed specifically for the job. The FDS SYS1X would be my choice. It will handle all of the switches and LED's on a 737 overhead.
As Geremy says, you will also need some 737 system software. Prosim is also a good choice and supports the FDS boards. It's a combination that's as close to plug n play as you'll get.

FDS will be used in this project.
Many thanks.
