How big is the difference between the 3 DOF and the 6 DOF moving platforms for cockpits?
Is it worth investing in a 6 DOF motion?
The 3 DOF i would like to have has pitch, roll and heave and will be about EUR 24.000.
I friend of mine is useing the 3DOF I have experienced a turbulent flight from LOWW to EDDF with him and to be honest that was great, a real feel from my point of view.
I guess the 6 DOF will be the non plus ultra but the price is almost like a mid class car.

My take on motion platforms, is that if you can't feel the g or your head doesn't start swimming, then a motion platform isn't worth the added expense.

Unless you were in an uncoordinated turn, you would never feel yourself leaning left or right, only the g pushing on you. No ground based training device can replicate g acting on your body. That goes for acceleration and deceleration as well.

hi,

the vertical acceleration is 0.6G
I donīt know how it will feel during acceleration.
My friends motion has 0.3G and itīs a feeling you will never want to miss again.
So i guess 0.6G is better and more realistic.
I think for EUR 24.000 you sure deserve an realistic feel.

For €24.000 you should get more for your money than that.

But, as you said it's better than no g at all.

If I had that to spend I'd buy an aircraft, I already have the licence!
