Hi all!
Can anyone please give me some short indication about how to start with fs2phidgets?

1 - the quick start guide mentions starting "your phidgets software" after starting FS. Does this mean that some self written code is required in addition to fs2phidgets?

2- the same guide mentions how to run a device assignment and calibration session, but not how to run FS with phidgets for a flight session.
Does fs2phidgets need to be started before/after FS for this purpose?

3- is there a user guide in addition to the quick start guide?

Thank you in advance for any answer.

I am assuming you are running Windows 2000 or XP.

Press "Start" in lower left corner of your screen.
Scroll up to "Programs".
Scroll left to "Fs2Phisdets".
Click on "Fs2Phidgets".

Roberto,

Have you read FSUIPC overview?
I would suggest doing that ?

Are you already running any Project Magenta software?

Regards,
Alan.

Hello Alan.
A few words to outline my setup.

I have an athlon2400 based motherboard, running XP and FS2004.
I built a small cockpit with six Simkit gauges, driven by Simkit board and Simkit TRC calibration software for calibration and TRC Link software for gauges control while simflying. This stuff requires FSUIPC, so this is already installed.
Besides that, I have a section with some GoFlight stuff (autopilot, pushbuttons etc.).
Know I'd plan to build a section of twin engine gauges with servos driven by 2 phidget boards, which I just received.

For a simflight session, TRClink needs to be started before FS, after that it runs in the background controlling the gauges.
From fs2phidgets documentation it seems clear that this software can do hardware assignment and calibration, so it would do the job that TRC calibration does for Simkit gauges.
Now my question was: does fs2phidgets also perform the job of hardware control during flight, i.e. the job that's done by TRC link for Simkit, and, if so, does it require to be started before or after FS? Or, is a different, self made software required to do that?
By the way, I'm starting to try fs2phidgets right now, and i'm getting "error runtime 429, ActiveX cannot create the object". I assume I need to load the phidget library first?

Kind regards

Roberto

Sorry, Alan, I loaded the phidget library, no more errors now!
The other question remains. :)

Both FS and FS2Phidgets have to be running for hardware to interact.

They can be started in any sequence.
FS2Phidget will detect when FS fires up.

The best sequence is:

- Start FS.
- Start WideFS if operating over network.
- Start FS2Phidgets.
