Hi all,
The time has come for me to purchase an MCP unit. I am undecided between CPFlight & GoFlight although I am leaning towards CPFlight due to their unit's expansion capabilities. Is anyone out their using the CPFlight MCP & EFIS with the PMDG 737 that can share their experience and advice? I would appreciate any advice.

Cheers, Gwyn (Westozy)

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit Larry (W9XE), Larry has the GoFlight MCP... I have to tell you... For the money, I was VERY impressed, looks fantastic and responded excellent. BUT. Hopefully Larry will comment, my experience is limited and have nothing else to compare it to.

Hi Gwyn,
I would go with the CPflight MCP/EFIS as the looks are better, expandability is great. Interface with PMDG is good. Also coop with Project Magenta is nice. I especially like the MIP board. And now CPflight is coop with Engravity so the looks will improve towards the best in class.
I have 1 MCP, EFIS, NAV, MCP board and am very pleased!
Also we get frequent updates of software and firmware, so support is pretty good. I have never been a Goflight fan, as it usually does not come close to the real thing. But then their price is lower, I cannot make that trade-off.

Thanks guys for the quick replies, you have already helped me decide. I will be ordering from CPFlight in the next couple of weeks 1 x MCP & 1 x EFIS. I will make a matching dummy EFIS for the right seat. I'm pleased that you are happy with CPFlight Kezz, it's good to know that you are experienced with their gear and there to help. I've printed and bound their manuals already and will start reading up on the product soon. I know that GoFlight is cheaper but I don't think this is an item that I should compromise on.

Gwyn,

I had been using CPFlights EIFS and MCP with PMDG in FS9 for a couple of years and found them to work very well together.

I have now switched to FSX and still I’m having no troubles with the CPFlight MCP and EIFS. Now I need to figure out how to get PMDG to work in FSX.

I believe that you will not be disappointed in your decision.

I am not sure this is still available but this might be a good deal in our Classifieds. The CpFlight MCP and 2 EFIS For Sale

Might be worth the e-mail :D

I'm a new CPflight user - I have 2 efis, MCP and all their radio units. These are very nice, fairly easy to setup, and works extremely well with PM. Trouble is - I'm so busy building (and so tired!) that I haven't got the energy to fly :(

Note that alot of the 2nd-hand CPflight for sale is the older style with no backlighting on the MCP, and the radio units are RS232 connection and not styled as well as the new ones.

Thanks guys,
I think for a spend of this amount I will buy new with the warranties and support etc. James, I believe that the current PMDG is not fully compatible with FSX and PMDG are doing a totally new rebuild of their 737 for FSX soon.

P.S. I've had a reply from Chris Brett from FDT, his vendor interview will be coming shortly.

Gwyn,

Yes you are right about PMDG making a complete different build for FSX. However I had read in the Computer Pilot Magazine that they had a way in which to manually import your favorite planes into FSX. If I read it correctly, I will be giving it a try later this week. Unfortunately Work dictates too much in the schedule. ;)
