View Full Version : PM B737 ND Display aspect Ratio and sizing

Hi Guys,

I ordered the 19" version of the Main Instrument Panel (MIP) for the B737NG
from flightdeck solutions.

I have just set an LCD monitor behind the MIP cutouts for positioning and I
have run the PM Glass display software (B737) to position the displays
correctly through the cutouts.

I am having one problem that you may have encountered. With the ND display in
ARC Mode, it seems that the size is too narrow to reach the sides of the
MIP Glass display cutouts, that is, the compass ARC does not extend all the
way to the edges like it does in the real B737. I know that the cutouts are
basically square 1:1 aspect ratio...but the PM Software Glass Display for
the B737 does not appear to be ....

If I zoom the ARC display via PM software I can make it touch the sides BUT
the display is then too tall and the heading box at the top gets covered by
the bezel of the cutout at top and the NAV/DME distance indicators along
the bottom get covered up by the bottom edge bezel.

Is there any way to resize the display asymmetrically within PM software so
that I can make the ND display wider but without lengthening it at the same
time so that the arc fills the entire cutout. OR is this the way PM
software is supposed to be ??? as the photos I have seen of real 737 glass
cockpits have the ARC extending all the way to the edge of the display.

Any advice/comments would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Luke

Amazingly, this old post from 2005 was the only one I could find after searching and searching. Ironically it never was answered and tonight, I have the same question. How do I adjust the PFD and ND asymmetrically? I want to strecth the top and bottom of both the PFD/ND and not just Zoom In or Zoom Out.

I'm awaiting a reply from Jonathan at PM. He told me about the following earlier:

"The ALT + - and arrow keys will alter the ND separately to the PFD. Via ESC menu options you can set the displays to the new ratio – where we basically move elements to fit the standard Boeing displays (180x180)."

My reply was this:

Here is what I’m getting:

1. Using the F4 Capt Display for PFD/ND, I can adjust the sizing as directions are stated. However, if I use Alt with the numeric keypad + (plus key), I see the PFD change from a standard box to the expanded box look. If I keep repeated pressing the PFD will flip-flop from those standard and expanded boxes, but the ND will enlarge each time I press, and in doing so the ND will grow in the top and bottom only, not the two sides. After some minor adjust with just the + & - keys or arrow keys, I arrive with the ND being just perfect.

2. However, I cannot just adjust the PFD to only increase the top and bottom heights. Any adjustments made will enlarge the PFD overall (on all four sides), meaning in a scaled up or down fashion. I can move it, enlarge or shrink, but cannot just stretch out the top and bottom.

3. I am using the MIP by FDS and I just need to be able to adjust top and bottom only without moving the sides, so in effect making a rectangle adjustment, not square scaling.

Since, I am still waiting, I'm wondering if any of you have come across this issue and how did you resolve it? If you have the answer, please post it...

John

Sorry, don't have it but sure would like to know also. So hopefully PM or someone else comes up with an answer.

It appears the ND is nearer 180x160 whereas the PFD is 180x180. Turn on the frame bitmap and see!

I'd like to see this modified too.
