Hello,

Newbie here with Skalarki cockpit, first of all thanks for the great software ! All works fine except one thing :

MCDU shows Active NAV Database as XXXX, and DB1/DB2 : Loading 0%

On main PC, Navigraph latest cycle is installed at ../AppData/Roaming/jeehellware. navrecord.dat is present in Navdata1 and Navdata2 folders.
10 bin files in navdata folder, copied over to the second PC (with Captain and FO NDs) to the same folder.

I had not enough graphic card outputs on second PC. So the second PC runs the ND displays, but the MCDUs are active on the main PC: Could that be connected to the problem ?

Hi

you could try to delete the bin files, run FMGS server alone (using right click admin rights is best, while P3D is NOT running) then when the bin files are all there, close FMGS Server (you may sometimes have to kill it from task manager) and try again to run the whole software.

if you are using the Skalarki FCU you may need to copy the bin files to get the VOR, NDB and ARPT to display if the unit runs on a PC where they are not already present.

Further to the above discussion, something seems to have changed. I have just installed the latest Navigraph FMS data successfully except that when I copy the data to the PC running the Skalarki FCU the network seems to slow down: the switch selections are slow to react, the ND and PFD displays are erratic. If I delete the copied files all works fine again except that my FCU switches do not work.
Is there something about the latest Navigraph update which is upsetting FMGS?

Hi Barry,

I tried the latest airac and i did not find anything particular about it.
Have you tried:
1. delete and regenerate the navdata bin files on FMGS server once more? (using admin rights if not the case already)
2. Use an older AIRAC to check if it really is coming from that cycle?
3. how is your PC doign when running the software? (CPU and network usage from the task manager window)

how is your skalarki system working? you have a local profiler linked to a local hardwareconnect on that client PC?

Resolved Airac by downloading again, most things working OK but one exception, the ARPT, WPT, NDB, VOR buttons on the FCU are not displaying data on ND. I’ve had this problem before until you pointed out I need to copy bin files across to the FCU and ND PC. I’ve done that now but not working. If I press hardware buttons they light up in the software FCU so I think not a Skalarki problem. I guess it’s a navdata problem but I can’t crack it despite a lot of reloading. System is as follows:
PC1 Is P3D and FMGS. PC2 is FMGS FCU and ND, PC3 not relevant, (switch interfaces), PC 4 remote FMGS server.
Navdata is downloaded to PC1 and bin files compiled and copied across to Navdata folders in PC2 and PC4.
Annoying thing is that it has been working but have lost it somewhere.
can you give me any clues?

Hi Barry

A few things which can help:
- make sure you close P3D before running the navdata generation
- make sure you run the FMGS Server.exe with admin rights
- After bin file are created, close the server and check the file in c:\A320FMGS\logs\logndb.txt and paste the content here eventually so I can see what is wrong
- Make sure your path in c:\A320FMGS\Navdata\FSScenery.cfg are all correct
- I have seen antivirus causing troubles, making the whole process very slow by preventing decent read/write time on the hard disk, so can try disabling that at least while generating the navdata

i have followed your instructions to the letter.

After creating bin files having by starting the server module the log looks like this:
*7:44:08 PM* Navdata module launched WideFMGS*7:44:08 PM* navdatapath:D:\A320FMGS\Navdata
*7:44:08 PM* NavDB files not found!

This doesn’t surprise me as at that point the bin files have been deleted.

If I run FMGS starter it looks like this:
*8:44:45 PM* Navdata module launched WideFMGS
*8:44:45 PM* navdatapath:D:\A320FMGS\Navdata
*8:44:45 PM*
*8:44:45 PM* Navdata1:
*8:44:45 PM* -ARPTliste:14134
*8:44:45 PM* -NavaidListe:16846
*8:44:45 PM* -FIXliste:267869
*8:44:45 PM* -AWYsegments:102664
*8:44:45 PM* -MarkerList:1401
*8:44:45 PM* -Holds:24287
*8:44:45 PM* -RWYS:34536
*8:44:45 PM*
*8:44:45 PM* Navdata2:
*8:44:45 PM* -ARPTliste:14058
*8:44:45 PM* -NavaidListe:16902
*8:44:45 PM* -FIXliste:262140
*8:44:45 PM* -AWYsegments:99967
*8:44:45 PM* -MarkerList:1459
*8:44:45 PM* -Holds:23373
*8:44:45 PM* -RWYS:34458
*8:44:45 PM*

Note all of the above work is carried out on the P3D PC, the server used when running the system is on a remote PC to which I copy the bin files.
i also copy the bin files to the PC running the FCU and ND’s

The only things not working on my whole sim are the buttons mentioned above. The annoying thing is that they used to work but something has changed.

Thanks for your help in trying to fix this.

Hi Barry

Just to be sure, you use the same version of FMGS server and navdata.dll (in c:\A320FMGS\navdata) on P3D PC and on FMGS Server PC?
Do you have SIDs,STARs and APPRs in the MCDU? if you enter a VOR ID in the FPLN page, does it add the waypoint correctly? (ie the position on the ND for the FPLN point corresponds to the position you expect for that VOR).

The navdata.dll was missing from the ND PC. I copied it across and all now works. I guess it is normally installed with FMGS so don’t know why it was missing. I have made a note in my manual in case it happens again.
Thanks for your help.

This is highly unusual. I think the only case for that could be the antivirus quarantined the file without notification or with an ambiguous/hard to notice one. So take extra care with your AV if you have one? it can be a good thing to make some exclusions on the FMGS paths...
