Hi, I want to take off from an airport and then do a series of touch & go's into the same airport.

How should the MCDU be programmed, particularly Alignment (in INIT page) and the FPLN.

thanks

Hi there,

let's say your airport is OMDB :P
Then create a flight from OMDB into OMDB, Align IRS, enter flight number, enter cost index (low, maybe 15 or 20) and FL50 as your cruising alt.
Go to INIT B and click Fuel Data uplink.

F-PLAN. Select departure runway with no SID (or maybe - if available - select an SID that brings you to a downwind leg).
Then select arrival, no STAR, only ILS approach to the landing runway.
You will have a F-PLN discontinuity between departure and arrival. Leave it like that.
Enter performance data (for both, takeoff and landing).

Perform takeoff. When airborne navigate to the downwind leg by doing an early turn (at 1000ft for example).
When on downwind, click DIR, select your final approach fix and enter the opposite of the final approach course (example: the runway is 268°, then enter 088°) at "RADIAL IN". Press INSERT.
You will have an unlimited long dashed line from the runway into space being your extended centerline.
Navigate to final and land.
After Touchdown select Flaps 3 because Flaps Full is not a takeoff flap setting, disarm spoilers and apply TO/GA.

When airborne again, clean up the aircraft and go back to downwind leg.
Now - again open DIR page and manually enter the final approach fix (it will not show in the list, just type it in), enter the opposite of the final approach course at radial in, select insert and voila - your final is back on the map.

That's really it.

PS: F-PLN is being deleted after 30 seconds of ground contact - so while doing touch and go's it should not delete itself.
