Hello JL and all,

I realize programming a weather radar into FMGS is not a priority.

As an alternative, and more straight forward solution, would it be possible to integrate SA_WXR into the ND of FMGS?

As you know, SA_WXR is a freeware weather radar application (http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/showthread.php?t=27402) and is used in Project Majenta (and now also AST).

I have been flying with SA_WXR with no apparent issues, however, the sweep range data is not embedded into the ND:

9964

SA_WXR reguarly updates a BMP file as the radar sweeps.

Would it be possible to integrate SA_WXR with your software to add some further 'realism' to our simulators?

Thank you,

Ben

Right now I will not implement weather radar, especially with SA_WXR which is old and no longer supported/developped.
I prefer implementing other features in the FMGS while waiting for some real outbreak in the weather system in P3D V2.X or V3...

Thank you for the update JL -- it seems there most software authors are going about 2 ways implementing weather interpretation in FSX/P3D

1) Using Active Sky Evolution (such as how PMDG implemented it in their 777) data; there is also a freeware weather client using this method at http://forum.avsim.net/topic/442414-my-asn-weather-radar-gauge-for-fsx-p3d/

2) Direct interpretation; e.g. Majestic Q400, and the upcoming FSL A320.

The Guys at REX are also working on a weather radar and will happliy discuss how to add the coding to intergrate thier gauge into an aircraft.

Just a though.
