Hi,

I will upload new versions of most programs today (November 21st) ... in the

next 60 minutes. www.projectmagenta.com/latest.html (just in case there are

any surprises, if not I will move it to the regular updates).

I am slowly starting to implement the final autopilot replacement routines,

first obvious impact will be the bank angle selector in the MCP and the new

FCU autopilot and Airbus-Mode handling.

For bank angle selection you can click on the graphics (of 777, 747 or 737,

just above the heading knobs) or write an integer value (e.g. 20) into the
new offset 0x552A. No FS heading mode is used in the MCP anymore.

The MCP has various changes beyond that (see Changes file re SPD mode
selection, AutoVS and Bank Angle Selection)

The FCU does not have the bank angle selector yet, but I will add it if you

want to use it.

Both Glass Cockpits have now a different handling of the flight director,
you should see some first improvements and more when the new autopilot modes

are fully implemented.

In the FCU, the AutoPilot Beta has been enabled again, i.e. you can switch
it on or off. I will concentrate my tests on the Airbus first.

Ciao

Enrico

Enrico;

With the new MCP (390), I am noticing a lot of rapid shallow-angle wing
rock at cruise, and heavy wing rock/S-turns when configured trying to maintain
the localizer. Acft is B747-200. Also there's a trend to overshoot
headings in turns. After a bit more experimenting, I think the heading
overshoots are part of the problem with the S-turns on final.

The new CDU is doing odd things with the radio freqs...I set a localizer
freq into the CDU at LSK 1L, and the freq went to NAV2 at LSK 1R instead. I
reentered...it took, but several minutes later a different freq had been
auto-selected in NAV1. Once a freq is manually selected, it should stay
there until manually deleted. Seems that NAV2 will accept a manual freq, but
not Nav1

The index pointer (looks like a V under the heading display) at top of ND
when in center (rose)-mode is gone. It's hard to fly precise headings
without an index mark.

I see lots of good improvements on the the whole suite though. Thanks for
that!

One last question...is there a means yet for PMSystems or other user
program to write messages to the CAS screen? Seems that would be a necessary
element of the interface between PMSystems and PFD...but haven't seen/heard
anything about it yet.

Cheers

Bob Scott

This is an even better description about the problem I mentioned in my émail

message.
