Has anyone home built a CDU/FMC for the 737. Most of the cockpit builds that i see people buy them and i have found how to wire them up because you can buy them as a kit but i have not been able to find someone that has built one from the ground up.

Now as someone that is quite tech savvy i am ok on the wiring and sourcing the parts for the electrical side the one that i dont know how to do is make the buttons (keys) and i dont think they are something that you can just buy so any information on how to make the buttons or where to buy them would be great

thanks
Mike

Mike,

Here you go: http://www.hispapanels.com/tienda/index.php?id_product=310&controller=product&id_lang=1

It is a kit with all the panels and buttons already cut and painted. You can also have the company include the electrical components if you want.

Good luck!

Mike & Steve,

I've just purchased the Hispapanel FMC kit, with all buttons etc, and last week my 5 inch LCD arrived from China (http://www.good-display.com/products_detail/&productId=38ed7828-7734-4027-a3f4-3565b42d62d5&comp_stats=comp-FrontProducts_list01-004.html) - it's a perfect fit for the Hispapanel cut out, and runs off a VGA input.

So I reckon for about $150 (and a bit of soldering) I'll have a fully functional FMC...

Rob

I have just successfully interfaced my FMC/CDU using a PIC18F4550. Took a while to figure it out. Anyone interested, just let me know.

We've got an FMC kit in in our pre-owned visitors retail section at GLB Flight Products if anyone's looking around.
