FSX Sounds

I read somewhere recently that FSX supports 5.1 sound systems unlike FS2004. Is there any way to set which sounds come out of certain speakers. I know a while back ATC was coming out of my center speaker and the engine and other sounds were coming out of my left/right speakers. Something changed and now ATC is coming out of my left/right speakers instead of center.
