Hi All,

Has anyone ever built the Guillows Balsa Wood Aeroplane kits before?

Guillows having been making balsa kits for many generations and have an excellent reputation in the model making world, especially now they are laser cut and not die cut.

If anyone has built any before, I would like to know if a novice can build a kit, with no experience. I am willing to give one a go, as I would like to build the Cessna 150 model that is available, and decal it up with my flying clubs registration.

Would just be something interesting and fun to build I guess...

Cheers!

Alex

I used to build these while growing up in the 1960's and 1970's. The models are not that hard to put together, especially since the advent of CA adhesives. The hardest part of the assembly is by far the covering (still with tissue paper, I assume), and doping (painting). Hard to get a realistic looking finish without some skill. I believe that these models were supposed to be flyable (with internal rubber band), but I was always afraid to try. I seem to recall building a Cessna model back then, although I believe that it was a 172. Have fun! Gerald
