Hello folks,

Whilst I am still evaluating whether to go the Flight of MS route for my base simulation software, I wonder if you could tell me what software add-ons you tend to install and run with FSX.

There seems to be thousands of add-ons out there from aircraft to airfields to environment... Is there also any conditions or rules to follow in terms of what to install - how does multiple environments behave for example If i had an airport within a VFR terrain within a Europe terrain within GEX...?

As well as airports and environments (not worried about aircraft as I will use Prosim737), what other utility type softwares do you tend to use?

Many thanks for your help on this. Kind regards,

Steve

These are the addons I know I have off the top of my head:

Payware:

-Flight 1 ATR 72-500. . . . .(Minor port-over issues, but other than that it's a must have!*Don't click the ADI Cage button*)

-Flight 1 Instant Mission Maker. . . . .(Perfect if you want to create your own quick scenarios)

-Captain Sim 757. . . . .(Some FPS issues, but very realistic. Do not confuse this with the QWsim one)

-Aerosoft Seahawk/Jayhawk. . . . .(Piece of junk, about as good as the default EH101)

-FSUIPC. . . . .(If you don't already have this, there's something wrong with you)

-Abacus Electra. . . . .(It's Abacus, is it ever good? I got this one for free with another package)

-FCS Wellington. . . . .(Great flight dynamics and visual model)

-REX. . . . .(It's no comparison, best weather engine out there)

Good Freeware:

-Rick Piper HS748. . . . .(Top notch systems simulation, pretty good flight dynamics and sound)

-Project Tupolev TU154. . . . .(Why is this not payware?)

-Tinmouse 737-200. . . . .(Pretty good, no official VC though)

-DXTBMP. . . . .(Excellent for Repainting)

-Milton Shupe Dash 7. . . . .(Great if you like bush flying)

-Not FS related, but old version of Game Booster is excellent for FPS boosts and very easy to use. . . . .(IObit Game Booster 3.4.0504 Download - TechSpot (http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4842-game-booster.html))

There will be almost as many opinions as members :D

It depends on personal preferences eg

Some like to have well modelled local airports
Some like to have favourite liveries and planes
Some like dynamic scenery - many do not
Some like photorealistic scenery others prefer the standard type
Some like addon buildings/trees
Some like to model airport services, other are not bothered
Some like to have interactive ATC and/or co-pilot voices
Many like improved weather engines
Some like improved sounds
Some like alleged performance enhancing utilities
Some like improved AI Traffic
Some like EFB`s etc

One man`s meat is another man`s poisson :D

Suggest you scour the online software houses for Flight sim and see what programmes tickle your fancy. You can then ask specific questions on specific packages

Hi Steve,

My top 2 FSX addons are:

1.) FSUIPC (a must for all pit builders)
2.) Accufeel - check it out here -Accu-Feel v.2 Air, Land and Sea - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ9YGMr7SnY)

Thanks,
