I have done a video what I want to do: Help!! Add a Remote Button On a Joystick?? - YouTube (http://youtu.be/f1JvXpzyBeA)

I would like add a remote button to my joystick, from the existing buttons. Could I just cut the red wire and put a switch and ground it on the white and same with the green??

Does anyone know how to do this??

And do these wires run on DC or AC?? How many volts do they use?

Short answer: YES!

Just cut the wires and install your own switches.

However there are diodes on the board and you might want to install some on your switches to prevent the current "running the wrong way" Diodes are like $0.01 each on ebay. Look on the backside of you print board to see how to wire it up.

You can use a toggle switch if you need. Then the input would just stay on (Like when you brake). But if you only need a small pulse as input a momentary switch is of course better.

What do you need the current for? It runs on DC and (perhaps) 5V. But you should not add power from an external source. Just use the joystick-wiring as is.

Oh, and by the way.
When you are in the process of stripping your joystick you can get 8 inputs/switches from the hat-switch using those diodes.
I forgot how but I tried it a few years ago.
