Help with PCB's

Hello all,

I recently decided to rebuild my 767 mcp, this time using as many pcb's as possible to avoid spaghetti wiring (It was bad :P). I have experience with etching pcb's using the toner transfer method, so that is no issue, but I am having trouble designing the pcb's. For those who have experience in this area, what software do you use? Also, if anyone has any designs they wouldn't mind sharing, it would be much appreciated. Specifically, I'm trying for a pcb to hold seven segment displays, much like the ones at opencockpits.com (but one sided).

Hi Steve,

I use Sprint layout 5.0 to design my pcb's.
I've a single sided made with the program that can hold 3 to 6 7-segment displays.

Diptrace (http://www.diptrace.com/nonprofit.php)is another one...Free Non-profit version (500pads / 2 layers).
And I have a lot of stuff waiting for you. ;)

Ever thought building / buying a CNC machine?
I think that is the most valuable invention after the wheel :mrgreen: (for me at least)

Thanks for the replies! I'll check out both programs to see which one will work the best for my purposes.

And yes, I have occasionally thought about building a CNC mill. Unfortunately, I'm working with a student's budget, so it is a little bit outside my price range. I do have access to my school's laser-engraver, but I have only used that for panels so far. You use a CNC for all of your pcb's, correct?
