Hi everyone. I am currently building on a Cessna 172 cockpit. Maybe some of you may know my website, S&S-Repaints - Your Source for HD-Textures! (http://www.sands-repaints.de) or Cessna 172 Sim Project (http://www.c172sim.sands-repaints.de)

Yesterday I created the GPS panel by "Frontplattendesigner". It is a tool to create panels. They will be cut by SchaefferAG.

Here is a screenshot of the panel:
http://c172sim.sands-repaints.de/gns_530.jpg

It is designed to fit for a 7" tft monitor and the button caps of emuteq's GPS. The encoders i will use are from Leo Bodnar.

Here is a short preview of the frame itself:

And an image of the throttle(s):

That is all at the moment, will post more when it is going on :)

Looks great! What are you using to add feel to your sliding pot in the image above? Loving the enclosure, I hope to build something similar now I have a garage! Will be keeping an eye out for updates!

Thanks! This is an oil damper from model trucks. It is about 109mm long. They are from Reely, 1:8. http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/232871/

Updates will take some time due to the lack of time... Looking forward to yours! :)

Does the damper not have a certain element of 'spring' to it? I looks at using something like that for my flap pot assembly but the guy in my local hobby store advised me that it would cause the lever to spring back.

I have a blog (in my sig) that shows you what I've been up to.

You can remove the spring, so the lever will stay in place. It will just smooth the move.

Brilliant, I will modify my tq! Did Emuteq sell you their buttons caps? I'd love a set of those, I've already cut my panel!

Hi -Will you be making a windscreen for your Cessna simulator? If so, I would love to know how - I have been struggling with how to bend plexiglass or find alternatives.
Thanks,
Daniel

Hi,

I am starting a project for a cessna 172 home simulator. I was wondering if you had some drawings or precise measures for the main panel.

Thanks for your help

Check the download section. It has a life size PDF as well as cad files for the 172 panel.

Usually bending plexiglass is done with heat. There are plans to build an oven to warm the plexiglass. Make your pattern, with the curves, make a plaster mold of it, or even use wood with pool felt in between then warm up the plexi, insert between the molds (either of wood or the plaster), clamp and let cool. This is how we did it on the Avenger restoration I worked on.

This is kind of off topic, I have a 1963 172d and would like to find the dash template. Does anyone know where I could find it?

Templates are not available. You will have to go a maintenance company who will source the parts in question. If this is for simulator use then you will have to custom build it. If the nature of your question is for maintenance of your aircraft for real flight then contact a maintenance company!

Hi and congratulation for this wonderful gps!.

I'm working on my own GPS and my model is the emuteq GNS. Could you send me or share with us your FPD file? The other question is how do you get the pushbuttons? is really buyed in the emuteq site?

Thank!

Hi, I love the shock absorber for the throttle. Do you find that you have enough play with with it though? Before it bottoms out?

Many thanks
