I have connected an Open Cockpits Mastercard directly to the parallelle port of my computer (so I do NOT have an USB expansion card).
Controlador shows exactly when I push a button, but in SIOC the card is not detected.

Since buttons movements are detected, I think the Mastercard, the buttons and the connections are OK.
But why is the Mastercard not detected in the main screen of SIOC?

Thanks for your ideas!

Sorry but the mastercard connection to the parallel port is not recommended and I have a suspicion that the parallel port is not now supported in the latest version of SIOC. Perhaps you could try a much older version of sioc, if you can get one, however, even then the parallel port connection was very problematical.

You really need to get the USB Expansion card, sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

Hi David,

Thanks for your quick reply (although the content of your reply is not good news indeed).
From the fact that Controlador has no problems to detect movements of pushbuttons, I conclude that SIOC and Controlador run independent of each other? ( they do not use each other data?)

Hi

Yes, Controlador and sioc are independent of each other. You could try reposting on the Opencockpits forum just to check if my understanding is correct :)

Hi David,

I posted my question in the Open Cockpits forum and this is the answer:

" Since SIOC version 4 a Master Card connected to a parallel port is no longer supported. You have to use a usb expansion card.

rgrds,
Nico"

You are right: no support for a parallell port anymore in SIOC 4 +
Because I only want to connect a some buttons and switches (nothing exotic), I think a SIOC 3.5 might work for me also. And that would save me around Eur 50,= for the USB expansion card.
And I hope that you are NOT correct about the poor connection via the parallel port ;)

Ah well, I take no pleasure in being right! Lets hope that you can achieve a good connection through the parallel port

Good luck

Great information. \I too connected to the parallel port directly and got no response. I figured the usb card was what I needed, glad to see Im not the first to ask this question.

Meanwhile I use my Mastercard for more than a year now and it is connected to the Parallel port, but it works without problems (until now).
A friend gave me SIOC 3.5 which still supportds the Parallel port connection.

I connected the Mastercard to a second computer (not being the Flightsim computer, because my FS comnputer has no LPT1 port anymore)) and even that works great.
Running SIOC on the second computer even made the FS computer faster!

So connecting to a parallel port is not always trouble.
