Well I am still alive, been a crazy summer to say the least! After some serious thought, prayer, and talking to my son and wife. I parted out my original working GAT1 motion sim down to the motion base and frame. I then ordered the shell plans from Ron Rollo, great guy to deal with! After a couple of full days of cutting and sanding with my 2 kids, this is what I have now as seen in the picture below. L45-17 is born. :) I will be adding a window post on each side and properly size/shape rear side window to match the Cessna Mustang Jet. I will be using Flight1 Mustang, Emutech G1000's, Ruscool panels, Pokeys55E, and FSX for now. Display will be 3 flat screen led tv's.
We are excited to be doing this project as a family and really look forward to seeing it come together. It will be a working motion based sim, and match the Cessna Jet closely in form, function, and feel.

Stay tuned!

Rob,

I like to see others building a sim other than a large tubeliner. I like the large planes but I find more interest in the smaller types since that is what I am building. Keep us posted.

Rob,

That looks great! How will you handle the out the window view? I'm building a GA sim using an actual Cessna 172 fuselage and for now it will be on a fixed base but at some future date I want to add motion. I am of course hoping to do that and still have good visuals given that I fly mostly low and slow GA.

You see them on ebay once and awhile. I bought 3 out of CA for 1500.00 Found them on Barnstormers.com

Wow, you purchased three of these for $1500 and they are suitable for a single seat application only or up to what maximum weight?
How do you intigrate into the flightssim or is that still ongoing??

The original set-up is one seater. I posted pics but they aren't showing. Not sure on the MAX weight but i'm guessing up to about 1000lbs
I used Pololu motor controllers and BFF motion software to drive the motion.

Fixed the pictures and they now show up, see first page of thread. All the gauges work. 42" led tv strapped to the front. :)

I'm itching to do a two seat cessna 172 ( like my own on floats) for IFR practice and 3dof would be a great addition to this.

I know I can keep the weight with two average people well below the 1000lb mark, I'm guessing 750 max. This link to a 172 is
the direction I see myself heading, for now I will work on the panel OH, and a location in the house to build the same.;)

Well I got the MIP mock-up in for placement testing. Built the the raised floor to support the saitek Cessna pedals. Worked out real well and feels perfect when sitting in the seats. They are power seats out of a mini van. :) I ordered my Ultracoat covering and next pics should show that installed. Off to add the stringers and prep for covering.

The plan right now is 3 led tv's, 46" to 50" mounted on a frame over the nose.

Very, very nice! Having completed a 172 simulator I'm now thinking about something a bit more sophoisticated and the Mustang is high on the list. The Emuteq G1000 looks like a good piece of kit but I didn't know it was available for twin engined aircraft. This would make a big difference to which simulator I decide to build.
I shall follow your build with much interest - great stuff!

Here are couple of shots of my MIP mock-up. Love the Emuteq G1000's This is just a temp set-up to test the operation and get layout ideas.

The panel setup looks great. I considered those when I started my panel...$. My first panel I did not want to put that much into it.

Keep us posted.
