Hacked joystick pots

I have taken apart my sidewinder joystick to make a control panel for FSX. I have wires soldered on the a panel for the switches and now I want to use the axis (pitch, roll, rudder, throttle) as adjusters for nav frequencies, autopilot adjustments etc. I tried to reassign the stick inputs in FSX Control settings, but it seems to only allow reassigning the button inputs, not the axis'.

Is there a way of doing this without FSUIPC?
