DIY B737NG tiller

Hello fellow aviators,

I'm new to this forum and I wasn't sure where to put this thread, feel free to move it in case it's necessary.

I want to build, or get if that's possible, a B737NG tiller. This is because I'm extremely annoyed by the not-working-correctly rudder axis on my joystick within FSX. Just to make things clear, I've got no intentions of building a "real" home built cockpit. I don't have the space nor the budget.

I saw this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sG6kDDFyeU) earlier. That's somewhat what might be in my pricing area.

Suggestions? I saw he made it, someway, out of a steering wheel (http://blog.gaingame.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Saitek-R100-Steering-Wheel-Review-01-300x225.jpg).

Although I used a B737 style tiller, any wheel like alternative would suffice as long as it has a square drive.

I mounted a bottom bracket from a bicycle (the bearing assembly that the pedal cranks attach to) onto a piece of L section aluminium. Then fitted the tiller to the square section drive on one end of the bearing assembly, and glued a potentiometer onto the other end (firmly mounting the pot body to the L section). The output from the pot going to an Opencockpits axis card. A couple of bungees provide a spring loading to a centre neutral position. A very cheap and easy build that gives quite precise steering inputs.
