FS Symphony has been released at www.flying-the-winglets.de (http://www.flying-the-winglets.de)

From the description on the site:
The program acts as smart interface between the Microsoft® Flight Simulator (FS2004 and FSX), FSUIPC and the PoKeys56E® Ethernet interface. For cockpit builders with no programming experience FSSymphony provides all relevant standard FS Controls in a drop down list and lets them quickly and easily assign to the appropriate inputs and outputs. The program can also act as bridge to the SIOC programming language.

No indication about whether it would be compatible with the USB version of Pokeys unfortunately.

I have already contacted the developer and he said he would add USB support when time permits. This is awesome as it adapts better electronics to a powerful SIOC script.

just wondering if and when to expect a USB version of FS Symphony

Today I released the beta version V1.1 of FSSymphony for PoKeys56E. The USB version is still not on my development log. This is a matter of time and money. I personally use only the Ethernet version. For USB version I would to have invest money for at least 2 USB devices. As long as FSSymphony is freeware I can not affort this.

If someone would like to test the beta V1.1 please let me know. Write to: contact@flying-the-winglets.de

FSSymphony Features Version 1.1 Beta

Added:
- Support of up to 10 Pokeys56E devices
- Encoder sample rate selectable 1x, 2x, 4x
- PVM support, 100Hz, 150Hz, 400Hz, 1.000 Hz, and servo
- Servo calibration facility for gauges
- Support of flightsimparts.eu display board
- Clock with UTC time and elapsed time
- Configuration export to EXCEL

Specially added for B737:
- Auto Brake Disarm Light
- Speed Brake Armed Light
- Speed Brake do not arm Light
- Flaps in Transit Light
- LE Flaps extended Light
- Anti Skid Light (partly)

Project Magenta B737:
- Easy interfacing of custom hardware to PM MCP
- Six Pack support, incl. Master Caution
- DU Selection for PFD and ND (CPT and FO)
- Analog Dim for all Display units
- Fuel used and reset switch

--> More support of PM will follow with the next version

News Brake....
FSSymphony 1.5.3 was released today. If your are interested in getting a free copy please write a mail to: contact@flying-the-winglets.de. For the the user's manual click here: http://www.flying-the-winglets.de/Downloads/Symphony15.pdf

FSSymphony is still published as freeware.

Overview FSSymphony V1.5
The program acts as smart interface between the Microsoft® Flight Simulator (FS2004 and FSX), FSUIPC and the PoKeys56E® Ethernet

interface. For cockpit builders with no programming experience FSSymphony provides all relevant standard FS Controls in a drop down list and lets them quickly and easily assign to the appropriate inputs and outputs. The program can also act as bridge to the SIOC programming language. Each of the PoKeys56E® digital inputs, outputs, analog inputs and encoders can be assigned to a SIOC variable. This gives cockpit builders a maximum of flexibility and the opportunity to interface none standard FS controls and own SIOC scripts to the PoKeys56E® interface. It also opens the access to the offsets of Project Magenta or IFly, to name just two.

FSSymphony supports the full range of the PoKeys56E® input / output pins. For each of the PoKeys56E® I/O pins the user can individually determine whether it should act either as digital input or output.

Digital inputs, axis, and encoders can be assigned either to a SIOC variable or to a FS Control or to both of them for maximum flexibility.

The analog inputs can be assigned directly to the FSUIPC joystick calibration facility.

Version 1.5 includes the following features:
- Up to ten PoKeys56E devices can be connected
- Support of PoKeys Ext Bus with 80 additional outputs
- Utilization of I2C bus for additional PWM outputs
- Goodies for B737 cockpit builders
- Beta implementation for Jet45
- Backlit control via PWM with application hints
- B737 brake pressure gauge support via PWM
- B737 flaps indicator support via PWM
- UDP (User Datagram Protocol) can be used instead TCP/IP
- P3D compatibility
- Support for Sismo-Soluciones ASA (AFDS) panel V1
- Small foot print, needs only a few percent CPU power

PoKeys56E® together with FSSymphony is gives users a high amount on flexibility to interface cockpit controls to the flight simulator and suits. Due to Ethernet connection the user is free on his decision on which PC of the flight simulator network he wants to run the interface software.

Hi Ruediger,

thank you for the program. I have 2 pokeys, but gave up on them because the interfacing part was too hard for me. It did work to some extent, but my Delphi knowledge failed me :) now I am all into the Arduino boards and thats amazing simple, check out the arduino forum on mycockpits, for more info.

But, I found your site and it regained my interst for the pokeys. Could they actually work? Well, to some extent yes. If,, you have the ethernet version,,
i tried it quickly and I must say you have made a good piece of interfacing!
thank you for sharing it for free. I will probably stick with the arduinos, but when i need extra inputs or outputs its good to know the pokeys will work.

One question: why not include the Usb version as well? The only difference in iterfacing is the connection part, all else is the same. The usb version has one great advantage over the ethernet version and that is keysends. Combine that with fsuipc key mapping and inputs are then very simpel.

Thank you again for the efforts and the freeware. Its great that people like you (and Jim - arduino) help others for free.
greetings,
Eric

Hi Eric,
thanks for your nice words regarding FSSymphony.

For quite a long time I had an USB version on my development backlog. Finnaly I decided not to invest time and money in a USB version. The reasons are that I'm very convinced in using TCP/IP, because it makes many things much more simple and is by far more reliable than USB. Another aspect is, that FSSymphony with PoKeys56E can run on any client computer of the flightsim network and I do not have to connect many USB devices to the Flighsim computer. The key mapping was never an issue for me, because I focus on controlling everything via offsets.

FSSymphony 2.0 will let the user define his own functions and offsets. Some more features are in the pipline. Release of version 2.0 will late spring 2013.

Hi Ruediger,
I see your point. And, I'm inclined to agree. The added option of running on any PC is also true.

So my USB Pokeys unfortunately won't work with FSSymphony. No worries, it will find its way into something somewhere :)

Greetings,
Eric
