Hi All

Great to be a member of this forum.

Fairly new to flight Sim (or any Sim come to that) but have the bug!

Space and money prevent my building a "proper" cockpit so I am embarking on kind of modular thing (737) that can be rapidly assembled and disassembled.

Also a "use as I build" plan.

I have had a couple of real flying lessons, great fun, But I won't be continuing down that path as the light aircraft just "don't do it for me".

I have a fairly good knowledge of electronics and mechanics (or mechatronics as it was at uni) although am completely new to micro-pros.

I am also fairly resourceful and can usually find several ways to achieve an end.

I hope in some way I can contribute as I am sure I will gain LOADS from you guys

In my opinion you need a dedicated space, even if it in the corner of the bedroom, so you dont have to continually remove yokes, throttles, rudder pedals etc to use the desk for other things.
This is what I have to do at the moment and it is a pain in the rear.
Come the Spring when my pit will be ready .... ahhhhh paradise.

Hi Allan
I hear ya I really do ,, my main problem is head office wont ever let me turn our bedroom over for a pit LOL....

I have a desk in the corner of our bedroom.
We are confined to an open plan flat although strictly speaking its a 4/5 bedroom house but the entire downstairs is rented out.
All the modifications were made 1. before I met my (newish) wife. and 2. before I was into "flying"

As mentioned i am fairly resourceful and am building the thing in like boxes that just stack and plug together...(well that's the plan)
It all started with just banks of switches and a torn apart gamepad or two...but then it was not even as good as a virtual cockpit as nothing was "where it was supposed to be". So along came miles of electronics to get a kind of status display but because I was not getting the info from FSX it wasn't very successful and the logic of which switches cancel/activate others was .....how shall we say ??....fun....?
So here I am well on the way to a nice MCP just awaiting the perspex front panel to come from being machined (could not believe how cheap it tuned out!)
I am not after the top end simulator just something that means I don't bury the plane into the tarmac while fishing around for the right switch etc when coming into land
.
I will have a reasonable overhead, a throttle quadrant, ( i think the plastic ones for sale are unrealistic for a 737 great for prop planes I think tho) and an MCP. Tthat will do for now. The radio and FMC will be on a second (or third) small monitor.

sigh ...grand plans *S*

Be very interested to see ya pit when its done please pop up some pix.
