View Full Version : Servo precision?

Hi guys,

I've purchased a flaps indicator from OpenCockpits along with a servo motor card.
All works well enough, but could someone clarify these for me:

When idle, the servo buzzes slightly, if I try turn it a little, the buzzing stops. Looks to me like it keeps trying to position itself...

When going clockwise or counterclockwise, the servo position is different for the same offset seen on the USB. So in case of flaps Indicator going from 5 to 10 lands precisely at 10, but going back from 15 to 10 is not precisely at 10... Is this behavior normal???

Tried asking those questions on oc forum to no avail :(

You need to get a quality DIGITAL servo!! They are fairly cheap for the size you need, 20-30$ You will not regret it, I promise! :)

I have the OC flap indicator and use the same servo on other gauges without the inaccuracies you are experiencing. Are you sure that it is a hardware issue? A good check would be to use the usbservo test programme to see if you can duplicate the same problem when using the values within the test programme. If you get the same result then it is indeed the servo - if not then it is the script coding.

Definitely the servo then. I noticed the problem with test program first, and of-course same happens from SIOC script

Not always - there are some strange scripts around:)

At least you now have the choice to ignore it or get the servos that 737NUT has recommended

I was thinking of asking OC to send me replacement. It's just a couple of days since I got it anyway...
