For my Glider cockpit setup with 3 monitors outside view I'm looking for a wallpaper like this in "super widewiew" (3840x1024).

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/4076/0272395.jpg (http://img233.imageshack.us/i/0272395.jpg/)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us)

Forward in the middle a real glider cockpit and the rest of beautiful scenery. Image search on the internet did not work out. Maybe even one of you has even a photo like this or similar on the hard disk. Please only real, not from the simulator. Thank you.

Some Pictures of the Project:

"Original" , DG 202 (FSX-Version)

My version, build with OC-Servocard and some Servogauges:

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/2769/meins2.jpg (http://img683.imageshack.us/i/meins2.jpg/)

The body of the instrument panel is made from construction foam.

This weekend I finish the instrument holder and the Servogauges.

More Pictures next time...

Thank You for the link.
I already have a glider cockpit ,either with Condor as in the video and FSX for better scenery quality. The new I want to build with real instruments, as training for my "Main-Sim", the Grumman Goose. I will not take a beamer, but 3 monitors on Eyefinity. So everything is more compact. Right now I just fit the SIOC code, and experiment with a little motion platform for the Sim.

Hi Skino.

There is also a soaring simulator called silent wings, I think there is an available demo throught their website to have a go for yourself. I really do appreciate gliding and have great interest in the sport, so I will follow your progress. Have you got a fuselage?

Thanks.

Alex

I have tested various simulators. Condor is the most realistic. And by the FreeCondorInstruments (freeware) multi-monitor capable. But X-Plane and FSX (with special add-ons) are quite suitable.
Unfortunately I have no fuselage. All available to be destroyed or ugly, all the other far too expensive, especially the canopy.
So I am also building the fuselage from scratch. I will post the progress from time to time

Here is a picture of the first attempt, who has gone horribly wrong

But you learn from his mistakes, the next attempt with glass fiber is better

Hi Skino, can I just ask 'what has gone horribly wrong', you seem to have a great concept. I know that here in the UK, gliding is very popular, and fuselages are just as rare because many snap them up quickly, because they are small, lightweight and easily converted to simulators.

I know your frustration of not being able to create a rounded fuselage, unless you have some drawing of slices which you can baton together and infill with foam and sand.

Personally, I think that your sim is not horribly wrong at all, I congratulate you on your efforts...

To be honest a scrapped fuselage is perfect I know, but what you have done creates the immersion and reality, so well done.

Excellent work skino, now how do you make the altitude gauge....I bet that will be challenging!

I have continued to build:

http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/1023/unbenannt17.jpg (http://img807.imageshack.us/i/unbenannt17.jpg/)

http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/1673/unbenannt21f.jpg (http://img835.imageshack.us/i/unbenannt21f.jpg/)

This instrument is smaller (50 mm) in contrast to the other with 85 mm.

Next, I build the radio (COM1 only) and a FLARM (as dummy). I am waiting for the converted servos (360 degrees servos) for the altimeter and compass. A good friend of mine is built according to standard servos.

More here (unfortunately only in German:oops:) More here http://segelflugsim.blogspot.com/

Hi Skino, Look great, you nearly have all the instruments!

Have you any more ideas regarding the enclosure as yet?

Hi Alex,

I am building small models to solve the problem. I think I get it. At the moment everything is running smoothly, it makes me distrustful.

One way that I thought about building a glider enclosure is; upscaling the cockpit section of an RC Sailplane / Glider plan. I think that it is very possible to build this way, although I think building a canopy will be almost impossible.

I have plenty of great gliding experiences, where I live there are 2 gliding clubs with a winch (1 with a SuperCub for an AeroTow). An aero tow is £28 and a normal winch is something like £8 per winch plus £1 per minute aircraft hire with a typical flight lasting anywhere between 10-15mins (some a lot longer depending on alt such as with an aerotow). Gliding is very cheap flying.

I hope one day I can build a glider sim, but I think I would use simkits gauges as id struggle on building the altitude gauge!

Anyway, I am following your project closely. If you need any logos decals for your sim just drop me a PM.

Excellent work Skino!

Alex

Hi alex,
Thank you for your offer. I suppose it might. I will build the fuselage like a surfboard. A core of foam (styrofoam or Styrodur), as it is used for insulation for buildings. In several layers of fiberglass mat.
I'm also a Glider Club nearby and have already made a trial flight. Was very impressive. Unfortunately I'm too heavy to fly there on time. There is no heavy gliders.:mrgreen:

The fuselage is hanging on a gear box and chains from the ceiling and move like a motion platform. Luckily I have my own house and several rooms still free.

There is still much to do.
