Well i built the system below for 1006.00 shipped,
I5-2500K OC at 4.3G now
Coolmaster 212+
ASRock ExtremeB4
Crucial SSD
G Skill 8G 1600Mhz
RoseHill 3 fan Case
MSI 460GTX 1GB OC PCI-E 16
760W semi modular pwr supply

Using WIN7 64-bit, FSX and Acceleration pack STOCK fsx.cfg!
Sliders MAXED!
50% Traffic
1280x720 PJ
Default 737

With the SSD = SUPER FAST load times!!

I have my slider set to 31FPS, My FPS is glued to 30.9 in all modes and views. I have more testing to do in heavy scenery areas but so far it shows no signs of stuttering and blurries or pop-up objects. SUPER FLUID motion! Even the view panning is fast!
I'm pleased and in heaven now with the performance I am getting. I HIGHLY recommend this set-up. If I tweak the CFG, Win7 and bump the OC, Just imagine!

Thanks for posting Rob.

This is great news, I've been waiting for some Sandy Bridge benchmarks for FSX. Keep us posted on your findings.

For those thinking of a new PC, the new i5-2500k is a killer CPU that's gives mega performance for the dollar.

From all the research i did, you can safely run this cpu at 4.5Ghz 24/7 with proper cooling and not hurt it! Amazing! I just did the CFG updates. back to testing.

I know you have your own testing to do, but if you get the chance, how does it run with 3 seperate external views open? ;)

Is the SSD the sole drive?

I have WIN7 and FSX on the SSD and everything else on an old 7200 1TB IDE I'll try the 3 views now.

Ok, 3 views, real world weather running so it was very cloudy, Had left and right views in smaller windows and main forward view. 30.8fps rolling down runway through rotation. After rotation with clouds and ground it dropped as low as 20 but averaged 28. Was smooth at all times with no stuttering at all. Made me smile as eventually i'm going to run 3 pj's! :) I do have have light bloom turned off. So far so good!

Thank Rob,
Did you try heavy sceneries like Eham(Schiphol) or Frankfurt or others from Aerosoft?
I like to know what it did with FPS

Rob, try moving your FPS setting to unlimited and see what happens. There is two schools of thought on this set frame rate and set unlimited, and in both cases they get good results depending on settings and add-ons. Thus, curious to hear how your system performs with unlimited...

Just did some test, used the CFG i made then(#1)and then the one created by this site(#2) which is Jesus's editor, http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

Unlimited frame setting, Default 737, Fair weather, at KIND As reported these are the Average FPS!!!!

Sitting on ground

#1) 125

#2) 155

Flying at 250kts 3500ft

#1) 180

#2) 205!!!!

The sim is insanely smooth but remember, i have NO add-on's installed yet. This is stock scenery and clouds. Still though i am very pleased.
