Bonjour,
Salutations.
François ROUIRE.
Hello,
My name is François I live in ORLEANS in the south of Paris.
I am looking for documentation to build a cockpit of a Beechcraft Baron 58 for use with Flight Simulator.
I have problems to determine the dimensions of the dashboard.
It is not possible in France to have access to a real plane to have the dimensions of the various dashboard elements.
Did one of the members of this forum know the total width and the height of the dashboard as well as the width and the height of Switch panel?
With my thanks,
Regards,
François ROUIRE.
Sorry for my very bad English

Can't help directly, but you may want to try this Beech forum as well http://www.beechtalk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=924

I have been planning a G58 build for 2+ years, and buying parts, but just started construction. I searched, and searched for the dimensions but could find none. By extrapolation (i.e. using known diameter of the backup guages, and display dimensions) I came up with 42" wide (I'm fairly certain that was later confirmed by other information). The top display is 14" high to just underneath the glare shield. I'm making the glare shield 1" high, so I cut the display at 14.5" and will route out a grove on the glare shield to plug them together. I came up with 6" for the switch panel, and another inch below that for the circuit breakers and push-pull switches which will be on an aluminum angle bar going across, otherwise, I made the panels of mdf. Hope this helps. If you are taking as long as I am, you still could use this information. Best wishes.

Hi Francois
Did you ever manage to get measurements for this pit? I am also at construction stage with my Baron Pit and need dimensions.

Hope you can assist.

Here's an interesting idea. Use Model Converter X to export the Virtual Cockpit of the aircraft and, provided that you are using a accurate model, load it into a CAD program to get the dimensions.

EDIT: You may need to scale the model to be the right size. This can be done by some simple math based on the wings in the model.
