DC-3 Yoke?

Hey all, new here, but I wanted to know if anyone could offer some advice on building a pretty decent replica of the DC-3 yoke? I'm thinking PVC pipe or something but am not real sure about the actual "steering wheel"? Thanks in advance!

I don't know the size of the DC-3 Yoke, but perhaps a tractor steering wheel will do it.
Compare DC-3 (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Douglas-C-47A-Skytrain/1821345/L/&sid=ee1155058e827c71e0ab5cf3c0a5efd0) with tractor steering wheel (http://pbplantsales.co.uk/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=349), you just have to cut a piece out of the ring to get the shape.

The steering wheel looks a bit like the steering wheel of a tractor. Perhaps you can take something like that: http://www.tractorpart.com/farmall_parts_steering_wheel.html . You just have to cut a piece out of it.

I recently finished a Boeing-ish yoke and made the wheel out of 2x pieces of 18mm mdf with wiring sandwiched between the glued halves followed by a lot of sanding.It feels pretty sturdy and with the added centre arms on your DC3 it would make it very solid indeed.My whole assembly cost less than £10 to make using bits and pieces laying around my garage and buying 2x bolts,2x plastic gears, 2 springs, a pot and couple of switches I didn't have available and it appears to work pretty well.

The steering wheel looks like a steering wheel of a tractor. Perhaps you can buy one for example here (http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200354218_200354218) and cut a part out of the circle to get the unique shape.

Last summer I found the wreck of a plane from the dc family. I can't remember the exact name atm, but I liberated the yoke which I believe is the same as the dc-3 or very similar. I'm on the road atm, but will be home probably by the end of the weekend and I'll check. If it's what you need, I'll send it to you. It does have a slight bend in it which I may be able to get out. Talk to ya soon.
