Tonight, I made a short flight to Monastir, Tunisia, because I newly own the holiday airports scenery from Aerosoft, including this airport and another 3 (Kos, Antalya and Faro). I was interested flying an arc approach, which I rarely find in central Europe.
http://s3.directupload.net/file/d/2392/jzwxlhrt_jpg.htm
Here´s how an ARC approach looks alike on the NAV display, when you feed the data correctly into the CDU database.
http://s5.directupload.net/file/d/2392/s99hpo2a_jpg.htm
I also managed to have a correct Autoland annunciation in the PFD, here is the picture showing the rising runway. I was aware being too fast. Also, radio altimeter is not set to DH, I know...
http://s1.directupload.net/images/110102/wrb7mfw3.jpg
Another change is the modification of Steve Reyling´s configuration file (v 4) , for use with the CDU - model 737-800, CFM56-7B26 engines. I altered the v1,vr,v2-Table, the vref speeds, the trim setting amplitude, and the "autoland" indication in the PFD. The values are taken from a real 737-800 FCOM dated May 15, 2008. I found, that for the POSKY model I am using, the v-speeds work smoother than the original ones and I need less trim correction than before.

Cheers
Chris

This is interesting, I was in the cockpit of a 737-800 last year flying a direct approach into this airport. It was only recently opened. We were the only aircraft on the tarmac and everything is very neat and new there. Even the concrete is spotless and smooth.

I was quite puzzled by your last screenshot though. I have never seen "autoland" as an FMA text in a 737-800, and what you describe as a rising runway is actually an "get the **** out of there" TCAS warning showing you to climb immediately. In all Boeing synoptics, Red = impeding death.

Red = impeding death.

LOL! That made be smile. :)

Ooooooops ;-( ;-)
So what is the anncouncement for autoland in a 737-800?
So damn, I remember the rising runway sign is different, ooops. But what the heck went wrong, then???
Here´s is the answer:
This is the PFD at the same time...

Yes, uhm, there was impeding death from "someone". ;-)

Chris, what glass cockpit software are you using there?

The real announcement is the good old "CMD". The sequence is as follows:

Up until 1500 feet an amber SINGLE CH is shown, indicating that a full autoland is not available, although both autopilots may already be armed.
At 1500 feet a confidence test is done, flashing both the glideslope and localiser deviation markers for 2 seconds.
After the confidence test is completed, SINGLE CH reverts back to CMD and flare is armed in the vertical channel. Both autopilots are now in command.
Flare is activated at 50 feet followed by Retard/Arm by the autothrottle.

Also note, that after glideslope capture, both the FCC Master lights on the MCP should be on, indicating that the FCC's have already split the operation and independently drive their own FD's. This leads to dropping out the FD on the side that has not yet tuned the ILS frequency and is a common source of confusion. It happens even when a single CMD is active.

Thank you metamarty.

So I will delete the Autoland FMA message again, for reality´s sake.

Sean, the cockpitsoftware is PM.

Thanks Chris. I didn't realise you could edit the FMA messages in PM!

Not like you Chris ;).

PS thank you for the POSKY 737-800 file, I'will try it. By any chance also an altered 737-700 file???
