Hi,

I have installed 3 laptops for PM clients (CPT, FO, EICAS) and I would like to startup (and shutdown) from away, like 3 switches or another PC via network for example.

The setup is in win7.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this,

Thanks,

Hi Nick

There are many ways to wake a remote PC over your network. I use a simple dos command called wolcmd.exe and a small batch (text) file in my startup folder. This process is near instant and invisible. If your not happy playing with dos, then there are similar free programs with a windows interface, but the dos solution is very easy...

for a windows interface...

Let me know if you need help with this.

Just a quick note, the PC's to be remotely woken up must have wake on lan facility on their network card. Almost all PC's in the last ten years probably have this. Also, these PC's must have be connected to a power supply all the time (even when they are off), otherwise wake on lan won't work.

Hi Sean,

Thanks for the tip ;)

In fact I prefer DOS solutions... DOS is easier, quicker and simpler in my mind.

I will see the links above and let you know :)

Thanks again,

The other part, drop the programs/applications that you want to run, in the startup folder, then they will start on their own, without your input.

The other part, drop the programs/applications that you want to run, in the startup folder, then they will start on their own, without your input.I have already done that... WideFS, PM GC and the additional PM software are already in the startup menus of the 3 clients... the problem is that where the 3 laptops are situated it is difficult (not impossible) to reach the on/off buttons.

Another option is to use Luis Gordo's Instructor Station to remotely start and shut down your sim PC's.

It's half price at Sim Market at the minute...
