Can someone please point me in the right direction to get PM woking on my CDU. I have a demo version (soon to be licenced) of the PM CDU and I can't seem to get the information screen only (no buttons) onto the screen of my FDS CDU. I have checked the .ini file but can't see anywhere to make the changes I require.

I love this project :)

If you have FDS (Flight Deck Solution?) hardware I suggest you contact Peter Cos and ask him. FDS started years ago with PM (I have an old model CDU).

Hi Chris,

Which model FDS CDU do you have?

Hi Nat

I bought a "Flight Deck Solutions Pro M Boeing 737 CDU FMC" of of E-Bay and now I want to set it up. Now I know I can use Project Magenta" but I priced you the licence yesterday and I almost fell off my chair. Surely there has to be another way to utilise the CDU display without PM.

Your thoughts?

you can use Prosim737, www.prosim737.com

There are several solutions, ProSim is one of them although you have to bear in mind that ProSim is still under development. It looks very promising but is far from complete. And FDS is not supported yet, as I understand (but you should contact Marty from ProSim about that; see his blog).

It makes me curious what the pricing is nowadays.

Chris,

Dont forget Sim-Avionics...best in my opinion.
Do you have the FDS driver to run the CDU?

Hi Nat

Yes I have the driver that I downloaded from Tekworx, this however does not alow me to intergrate the screen only into my CDU. I have looked at Sim-Avionics and yes it looks very good but it is still $1200 CAN. I know the software is the "Heart" of the simulator but I thought I should be able to hookup my hardware without laying out for extra software. Im sure I should be able to figure something out.

Chris,

This may be a dissapointment but a CDU needs software, wether it is PM, Sim-Avionics, ProSim, whatever. I don't know about Sim-Avionics but it's originally designed for Boeing 777. I've heard that their 737 suite also has it's drawbacks and imperfections. And yes, it costs 1200 CAN. Really curious what PM asks now for pricing.

Anyway, there are different possibilities. There also seems to be an Australian producer of 737 software (also in development but far less expensive than Sim-Avionics) but there are other choices too. That's an advantage nowadays. When I started there was only PM (on the other hand, it was not so ridiculously expensive then).

Just have a good look around and compare, you already made an important step by getting the hardware.

PM is 799EUR for the Captains side GC, CDU and MCP.

399EUR for F/O GC and CDU

399EUR for PM Systems

So that means that SimAvionics and PM are not miles apart.
