Very cool. It's great to see a team of young people (gosh, I sound so old saying that - and a bit patronising, which is certainly not how it's meant) doing something like this. Getting the CPT gives you a fantastic base to build on. And you've picked a great aircraft. I used to love to fly on the 727 when it was still in regular passenger service. Nothing quite like getting on and off via the rear airstairs. Although frankly you wouldn't want to sit at the rear if you wanted to hear yourself speak :-)

Please keep us updated. I've hit a bit of a lull in my own project of late and seeing updates like this is helping to bring my enthusiasm back.

Thanks so much for all of the kind words guys! We are honored with the chance to give this old CPT simulator new life and are very glad to share the experience with the rest of the world.

I do my best to update the progress page every day that we actually do work on the project, so stay tuned!

Wow! You must be very lucky you got hand on this thing! Please keep on posting here, the 727 is a "difficult-to-master-project" for a home cockpit builder. Congratulations.

Oh yes, she will be a tricky one. But most likely well worth it!

Putting the finishing touches on the cockpit floor...

We have begun assembly of the forward shell section and were able to mount our center projector and get away with a little test flight.
You can see a video of the first takeoff on the progress page of the 727simulator.com (http://www.727simulator.com) website.

For those of you who are curious of our screen setup:
We decided to go with three flat projector screens to prevent having to deal with projector warping and the troubles of assembling a curved screen.
Here is a diagram of the projector setup.

We have made alot of progress since the last update. We have:

Installed the third projector
Installed the back portion of the outer shell.
Installed the right portion of the back wall.
Installed the glare shield and fire panel.
Installed all of the interior panels.
Made and installed the clear plexiglass windows
Installed the ceiling flood light fixtures for both the red and white lights.
Installed the emergency exit sign.
Installed the fluorescent glare shield lights.

I have attached a blurry teaser pic...

We have made alot of progress since last update. We have finished up the captain panel and the engine panel. For the gauges, we simply stripped the original gauges of their glass and bezels and reattached the bezels onto the panel. From there, we mounted 17" LCD monitors behind them and we are very pleased with the results.

Oh, and by the way, we purchased yokes from Precision Flight Controls. Extremely nice! We love em'!
