Hi folks,

Can one of you OC experts give me some guidance on the DC motor board?

I intend to use the card to drive my throttle levers (to start with) but I need to know if the Axes pins on the card are used for the pots attached to the levers.

If so do these axes then appear in FSUPIC as normal for calibration. Which I assume means that the card also acts as a joystick controller? Yes?:?:

Also the pins for an external power supply, are these used to supply power to the motors only? I have a 12volt 1.5 amp adapter, would this do to test the unit? I appreciate to be correct the motor amperage is a factor but I just want to sort out the SIOC code before I go any further. There will be no lever attached to the motor for this purpose.

Thanks for the reply, I had already downloaded this file but it doesn't really answer the questions I asked in my original post.

I suppose I could simply try it and see, but I don't want to attach anything that might damage the card, or the components.

Yes, the analogue inputs on the card are to connect with the positioning pots driven by the levers

The values of these pots are read by SIOC and sent to the appropriate FSUIPC offset - similar to a joystick controller but thru SIOC

I do not have the manual to hand, but yes these cards do have a separate power supply to drive the motors only, also watch the current, I think the limit is circa 1 amp without a heatsink

Thanks very much, that was the information I was after. I needed someone to verify what I thought might be correct and you have done that. Now I'll have a go at assembling the bits and give it a whirl.

I assume from your data that calibration through FSUIPC is not needed, or is it still possible for FSUIPC to recognise the axes in the normal way.

No, you calibrate thru SIOC which gives you control over speed etc - get a dark room ready and remove the sharp implements from the kitchen though:)
