Hi guys, another question, certainly very far away from this stage but it's one of those burning questions that eat at you.

I know I'm anal for talking about something like this but as they say... the devil is in the detail! For the main panel cover as can be seen in the image, can anoyne come up with ideas on how to create that grainy texture on the material? My initial thought was to get raw materials that are grainy like that (if I could find any like that that is) and then be done with it but then I realised that cutting out various areas would mean that the surfaces with the cuts will be smooth. Any ideas? Maybe spray the whole thing with super glue and then dust it with extremely fine sand or something?

After writing up that question I'm startint to think that there's probably no easy way of getting a similar texture easily.

How do they do it on the real parts, does anyone know? I would imagine they would be injection moulded plastics or something? How do they get that texture in the moulds?

I highly doubt that I'll be doing injection moulding though.

The texture is made by 2 component primer. It is very hard and scratch proof.
If you go to a (good) paintshop or car body shop, they can surely tell you more about that subject.

Kind regards, Nico
